"A Cigarette for Today"
Go back
I traveled afar, I traveled abound
I traveled to cities, I traveled to towns
Visited Mr. Benson Hedges, I visited for some Crown
He said I'm out of tobacco, they smoked me all away
No cigarette for me sorrows, no cigarette for my pain
But in a crowd was Newport Red, the others were tagged away
I asked him for a cigarette, he said not now go away
Around the hills was Marlboro, I asked him for a sway
He cut me once, he cut me twice
The cut was for my pains
How much more I had to do for a cigarette for today
I waved him bye, he waved me back, but I still haven't found a pack
So I bumped into Kools and asked for a smoke
No cigarettes was in his pack
Down by the lake was Winston, fishing for food and whey
I asked for a smoke, he handed me one
Another cigarette for my pains
I waved him bye, he waved me back
Yet, I still needed a pack
Came upon a store and saw a very vicious pack
The pack was Eagle, Eagle it was
He had cigarettes packs and packs
I said how much pence to pay my fair, for I'm in need of a pack
He said the fair was just 10 pence
I replied I don't have that
I heard afar a shout from a tree, it was Bugler on his knee
He said if you travel, travel the west
You'll find some cigarettes free
So I traveled west walking along Camel confronted me
He said that Basic was miles away and needed me desperately
Capri showed me the way to go
Cheyenne pointed the way
I hope to end my worries and troubles with a cigarette for today
Crown and Doral was fighting abroad
L & M settled them down
New York Cut gave me a smoke
Salem was making some sounds
USA Gold said give him some more
Virginia slim said now
Vantage packed a lunch for me, he knew my traveling bounds
Zigzag mapped a way for me all around the town
Happily I walked about singing my cigarette sounds
Pall Mall smokes and New Port Box said please enjoy your day
We have packs for just one penny
I said thank you I have that pay
I have a cigarette for my troubles and worries
A cigarette for my pains
A cigarette for my travels abroad
A Cigarette for today
