One way would be to use security packages, like practices and policies, this would increase the security for the emails. once you make a policy and all the rules are met by all who use email, this will secure the emails that are sent out and received.
Another way would be to use Spam Filter, and always make sure that you scan your email for any viruses and Malware that may be installed the minute that you open your email. Most emails are sent with viruses, so this would be a good way to stop viruses.
You would also use messaging protection, and email Spy Ware protection. personal firewall tools are available right inside of the operating system, so all that you have to do is open the security panel and turn them on, and make sure that they are kept up to date, and you should be fine. this will secure your emails even more that you think it will mainly because, this is internal and not a third party security feature.
Last, using email encryption, this is used between the sender and the recipient, and will boost the overall security and give the person who uses the email more power to do so.
